We draw constructivist literature that explores biographical parameters national narratives their significance in global politics to examine changing representations North Korea screens. analyze as set mirror Korea's construction identit(ies), with real-world, sociopolitical consequences. argue nostalgic depictions screen situate it receptacle past characterized by ruralness intimate community life. In contrast, capitalist (post-)modernity is inescapable present, signifying material victory over virtue developmental successes.
